Who isn't fascinated by the way things move. I certainly am. I hope some of my designs capture that sort of fleeting, fluctuating moment. Or maybe the moment of change from one form to another, eg. the light and shadows at dusk - something of that feeling of transition.

I've made several pieces using individual gingko leaves, by roller printing each one's unique pattern onto silver that's then curved and flared, each in its own way. Maybe I find gingkoes so appealing because they're so evocative and fragile but are really longliving and sturdy ..... anyway it's probably the same reason they've had such a long history in art, literature and poetry, especially from the Far East. I'm often attracted to the serenity and enigma of themes, symbols and art from there.

And my jewellery has sometimes just a touch of whimsy too ...... using all sorts of found materials and different bits and pieces. But mostly I'm working in silver as the way it catches the light makes for such a lovely impression of light and shadow.......... not that I don't use semi-precious, or even precious stones sometimes. I use Tasmanian stones when I can and my photographic pieces (dye sublimated, ie printed, on aluminium and set in silver) are also usually of Tasmanian scenes. These pieces are a celebration of this beautiful state, and the wonderful diversity of its nature and landscapes.

Please wander through the Portfolio to see some work I've made before. All my work is handcrafted and so each piece is unique. Feel free to email me (anna@annamwilliamsjewellery.co) with any comments or thoughts you have.
